We will pick you up in Hikkaduwa, at the airport or anywhere along the west and south-west coast.

The trip takes you down south where you can visit the Dutch fortress in Galle and the Weherahena Temple with its 39-meter Buddha statue. You then pass through Tangalle and continue on to Tissamaharama, where the first day of the tour ends. Starting from Tissamaharama, you are taken to one of the biggest sacred Hindu sites, the temple complex at Kataragama. Afterwards you set off on a wildlife safari in the Yala National Park.

Next day, you leave Tissamaharama and drive up into the highlands. Here, you spend the night in the "City of Light", Nuwara Eliya, the highest town in Sri Lanka. On the way there, you visit a tea factory, where you learn more about how tea is produced.

From Nuwara Eliya you drive to the ancient royal city of Kandy, where you spend the third night. The programme here includes the botanical gardens in Peradeniya, a performance by the Kandy dancers and a visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

From Kandy, you drive to Dambulla, a complex of cave temples dating back to the 1st century BC. Afterwards, you head to the ancient royal city of Polonnaruwa with its impressive ruins and dagobas. The fourth day of your trip ends close to Polonnaruwa, in Giritale.

On the fifth day of your trip, you climb up the 200-meter Sigiriya rock where you can see the frescoes of the cloud damsels and admire the breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside from the top of the rock fortress. Then the trip continues on to the east coast of Sri Lanka, to Trincomalee. Here, you visit the Dutch fort, the Koneswaram Temple, which is situated on a peninsula, and the seven hot springs at Kanniyai.

On the sixth day, you visit Anuradhapura, the oldest of all the ancient royal cities in Sri Lanka. As well as the 2500-year-old holy Bo Tree, which grew from a branch of the tree under which Buddha sat, there are many temples, dagobas and ancient bathing ponds.

On the last day of your trip, on your way back to the starting point of the tour, you stop off at the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala. Here, you can watch elephants bathing and see the baby elephants being fed.
